At Land’s End, you can feel the energy of the mighty Pacific as it mixes with the Sea of Cortez. We experience microclimates due to the varying water temperatures. The Pacific is significantly cooler the Sea and we can see up to 20-degree swings from one side to the other. During winter whale watching season you can see up to 9 different species of migratory whales. The big three are the Humpbacks, California Grey, and the mighty Blue whales. Be sure to come from June to December for the whale sharks, the largest fish in the Sea. Another fun activity for the whole family is baby turtle releases. There are 5 species of sea turtles along the shore from Nov-May.If you like to go below the surface you have great options. Dive sites abound everywhere. There is a marine park at Land’s end, a significant reef, and Chileno Bay boasts one of the largest hard coral reefs in the whole Pacific at the Cabo Pulmo Nacional Marine Park. Snorkeling is another great option if you prefer and the diving is world-class. We draw people here for spearfishing and shark diving. We also have 9 blue beaches that are among the cleanest in the world. There are so many beaches you can live a lifetime here are barely scratch the surface. In fact, our state has more shoreline than Florida and less than 800,000 residents.If wind sports are your passion you have some of the best conditions in the winter over in Los Barilles, Buena Vista, and the up and coming La Ventana.
