Best Tacos in Los Cabos

Hi I am KT Morgan the host of Cabosfinest your insider’s guide to Los Cabos. Tacos are believed to be invented in the Silver mines in Mexico during the 18th Century. The Fish Taco is a decidedly Baja invention being claimed by Ensenada and San Felipe.

In any event we can agree that tacos are distinctly Mexican and absolutely delicious. Here we bring you the top 5 taco restaurants in Los Cabos. Before you start commenting on this list be aware these is our personal favorites and there are hundreds if not thousands of amazing tacos all Baja and over the world. Viva Tacos!

First up we feature La Lupitas Tacos and Mezcal. This is an upscale taco spot that opened a few top years ago in the Historic Art District in Downtown San Jose and has expanded into Cabo San Lucas near Medano Beach. They take the standard taco to new heights with their fresh ingredients and unique salsas. Instead of bringing you the stripped down version where you add the Coleslaw, pico de galla, chipotle sauces, etc… they in their infinite wisdom garnish each style to the best of their idea of the perfect taco. pairing this with an appropriate Mezcal pumps up the flavor as well as the fiesta. Both locations are festive and offer occasional live music.

Alcaravea Gourmet Restaurant, Cabo San Lucas

Alcaravea Gourmet Experience Alcaravea Gourmet and we are going to interview the owner and chef Enrique Diaz. Located just a one minute walk from the marina is Alcaravea Gourmet. This is one of our favorite little restaurants…

This is one of our favorite little restaurants. The owner Enrique Díaz is the head chef and he makes the whole experience so inviting. From the moment you walk in you feel at home.  His Mediterranean Inspired menu is a mix of his experiences while traveling through Europe. What started out as a very small bistro with just a few tables and no liquor license has slowly grown into a beautiful bistro with indoor and outdoor seating. His staff is young and he trains them well so you can expect proper service. They consistently rank as a TripAdvisor Best of the Best. The lunch special is one of the best values in Los Cabos. We come often and just love dining with friends in the back private room. We start off with some drinks after we place our order. The special includes either a freshly made salad or soup. Sandra ordered the catch if the day in a white sauce, Chris has linguine with shrimp, Andrew enjoyed the Cabrillo with grilled veggies and I had the scallops and shrimp. Yes another great lunch at Alcaravea. His dinners are moderately priced and delicious. He has gained a well-deserved reputation based on his consistently high-quality food and impeccable service. Offering a wide variety of seafood and meats and he can accommodate special dietary needs and always hand selects his organic produce. He is always there to greet his loyal following and it is always a treat to go enjoy his casual yet elegant gourmet offering.

He has transformed the modest street-side cafe into an intimate white table cloth gourmet restaurant. His prices are moderate and his quality is divine. The lunch special is one one the best values in Los Cabos. Choose from locally produced farm-fresh vegetables to complement his wide selection of seafood, meats and pastas. They offer a well-stocked bar and a wide range of wines by the glass or bottle service.

El Peregrino
Just up the street from Alcaravea is a locals favorite called El Peregrino. This family-owned restaurant has a bistro meets Cabo vibe. They have mastered their offerings and we typically go there hungry due to their good-sized portions. The Asian Tuna Carpaccio is a must-try starter. I find it hard not to order the 14 hour slow-cooked ribs. Another favorite is the Shrimp Scampi with white wine sauce. They also are well known for the steak menu. The bar is very affordable and they have a modest selection of regional and international wines.

It is a small and busy restaurant that has opened a second location called Kauil. So if you can not get a reservation for El Peregrino be sure to try Kauil.

Nick San Cabo and Palmilla.
Back in 1985, Angel Carbajal met the Japanese restaurateur Masayuki Niikura. Niikura San enjoyed spending his vacation in Los Cabos and was a regular of the restaurant that Chef Angel Carbajal managed. When friends of Niikura showed up at the restaurant, he asked Carbajal, who was the manager, whether he would allow Niikura to step behind the bar and prepare sushi for his friends. Chef Carbajal said yes… and the rest is history. Japanese Chef Masayuki Niikura and Chef Angel Carbajal have been blowing the minds of sushi lovers in Cabo for decades. If you have ever eaten at an authentic high-quality sushi restaurant then you will no doubt love his fresh and creative menu.
With 75% of his ingredients being imported from Japan, you can’t find better quality Japanese food anywhere in North or South America.
From the delightful lobster roll to everyone’s favorite tune tostada, Nick and Angel’s team love to spoil their patrons with great service that will leave you more than satisfied. Located just off the Marina in the heart of Cabo and now with a second location in San Jose at the Tiendas Palmilla.

Flora’s Farm is a world unto itself.
What started off as a 25-acre organic farm has turned into one of the most sought after experiences in Mexico. Flora’s Field Kitchen is the nucleus of this vision. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the middle of the garden makes the farm to table concept extra fast and fresh.
The day begins very early as the staff begins baking the loaves of bread, harvesting the crops and preparing the menu for the day’s guests, the various private events, and high society weddings that may occur on any given day.
The experience gives you the feeling of wellness and balance that is incorporated into their menu and way of life. It is actually a simple formula, combining hand made food using farm-fresh ingredients.
What they have accomplished on this 25 acres is amazing, every corner has been utilized yet feels open and not cramped.

The Office on the Beach
Before Cabo was the ‘in’ place in Baja, the Office began as an open-aired palapa shaded ultra-small restaurant with great salsas. Today it is the most famous beach restaurant in Los Cabos.
We especially love the breakfast menu and exceptional service. And yes, the various salsas are still authentic and very best in town. Lunch is especially festive and you will find large groups and families spending hours savoring the fresh seafood, buckets of beer, and fresh margaritas. The kids can swim right in front and shopping from the venders. Friday night is popular being Mexican Fiesta night.
THE best breakfast in town!
Insider tip – keep five receipts and get a free t-shirt or hat. I have dozens of each, so I guess I’m a fan. You won’t leave disappointed.

La Revolucion in historic San Jose del Cabo. Led by general manager bruno, executive chef benito molina (of ensenada’s esteemed manzanilla), la revolución is one of the most talked about openings in los cabos…
Located in downtown San Jose del Cabo in the center of the art district, la revolución is a contemporary Mexican restaurant that aims to revolutionize the conventional ways of doing things in a restaurant. Renowned Mexican chef Benito Molina has created an enticing menu inspired by the Baja California peninsula. Their cocktail menu is worth going by itself but be sure to let them guide you with some paired tapas or do the full evening of gastronomy.

The first thing that strikes you is the gorgeous historic building with a gin bar on the roof. They have completely refurbished this into a chic downtown bar and restaurant. The quality of the food speaks for itself. A favorite place on Thursday Art Walks so that night you will need to make a reservation.

Edith’s Restaurant & Bar
Edith’s is a vivid combination of the Cuisine of Baja California with a Guerreran flair, featuring a regional fusion of steaks and seafood with local ingredients.
Offering a privileged view of Medano Beach and the world-famous arch of Cabo San Lucas, candle lights and palapas set the atmosphere for an unforgettable culinary experience.
Prime cuts of utmost quality imported beef and freshly-caught local fish and lobster, along with Fresh salads, chile poblano, and hand-made tortillas are just a few expressions of the culinary celebration of life in the Baja. You choose your fresh cut then enjoy a tableside Cesar Salad performance while waiting for your entree. The desserts are equally wonderful as is the traditional Mexican coffee show.

Now lets shift gears as we upscale to the high-end restaurants. First up is Seared at the One and Only Palmilla Resort. Seared is the latest addition to the culinary skills of chef Jean-Georges. A gourmet Los Cabos Steakhouse where they present the finest possible steaks and freshest seafood along with the most comprehensive list of wines from Mexico.
From grade A5-Wagyu and Kobe beef to succulent steaks and tenderloins, 15 different cuts of meat of the highest quality are prepared according to precise standards, which competes with restaurants of the world’s most recognized grills. The menu also takes full advantage of the sea, with lobsters, delicious seafood, and hamachi sashimi.

Cocina de Autor- More than a restaurant, Cocina de Autor is a Grand Velas concept; a sensorial dining experience of fine gastronomy led by two Michelin Star Head Chef Sidney Schutte of the Netherlands. This is a culinary tour that reflects the culture and life around us.  The lounge area is the perfect place to unwind with a cocktail and begin your culinary odyssey. After your cocktail enjoy a playful 8-10 course tasting menu showcasing the finest fresh produce and local meats and seafood. The dining room is gorgeous and shows the level of attention given to this star of the resort. It is rare for an all-inclusive resort restaurant to reach this level of perfection. This is certainly the exception to that rule.

And finally, we bring you Comal-Voted the top restaurant in Los Cabos.
Comal is a wonderfully inventive restaurant located at Chileno Bay Resort. Here’s where to find Cabo’s most innovative takes on regional flavors and traditions like braised short rib with cacao broth—set against a contemporary indoor-outdoor space spread across three levels, and dramatic Sea of Cortez backdrop…
Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
For the evening come early and enjoy cocktails prepared meticulously by Osvaldo Vazques and his mixologists. Executive Chef Yvan Mucharraz finds joy in guests gathered around his inspired takes using the freshest local catch, from giant totoaba to sea bass, telling their own stories, and creating taste memories that linger long after they’ve left Chileno Bay.
Watch the colors of the sunset over the Sea of Cortez while dining at one of the top restaurants in Mexico. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or just delighting in another day in paradise Comal will elevate your Cabo experience.

This concludes the 2020 top ten restaurants of Los Cabos.

Salvatore’s G

Everyone that loves Italian food must discover the wonderful flavors of Salvatore’s. It is so popular that we recommend a reservation and even then it is commonly booked up. Tim Galluzzo the happy owner has added a second restaurant Salvatore’s G. This has the same wonderful menu plus he’s added delicious steaks and soon to open a wood burning pizza oven. We just love the ambiance of this place with its long bar, comfortable seating and large screen TV’s plus it has tons of space indoors with AC and outdoor dining options.

So you have the same great Salvatore’s menu with a sports bar and steakhouse with AC. We locals just love having this option especially during the warm summer months. Buzzard’s Bar & Grill Los Cabos

Buzzard’s Bar & Grill

Hi KT Morgan here with CabosFinest. In today’s video we are going to show you Buzzards Bar and Grill in La Laguna. The legendary Buzzard’s has been feeding the adventurous east cape visitors for many years. The relaxed garden setting is palapa shaded and exudes a cool mellow feeling that is totally east cape.
Carlos greets us with a huge smile and a excellent Don Julio Margarita. Oakley orders water from the bar and we mull over the menu.

While we wait for our food we loo over their gift shop and say hello to the chefs in the kitchen. They offer daily specials and feature fresh seafood. I can’t help but order their famous fresh hamburger. Sandra goes for the veggie mulcajete.

The grounds are tropical and right next to the beach. They have a few casitas to rent. The bar is well stocked and the staff are like family. Buzzards Bar & Grill La Laguna East Cape. This video review of Buzzards was brought to you by Cabos Finest your insiders guide to Los Cabos.

Flora Farm San Jose del Cabo

What started off as a 25 acre organic farm has turned into one of the most sought after experiences in Mexico. Flora’s Field Kitchen is the nucleus of this vision. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in the middle of the garden makes the farm to table concept extra fast and fresh. The day begins hours before dawn as the staff begin baking the breads, harvesting the crops and preparing the menu for the days guests, the owners and all the private events and high society weddings that may occur on any given day.

The harvesting of the greens continues throughout the day. All meats served at Flora’s Field Kitchen come from their nearby 150-acre ranch where animals are humanely raised on diets that do not include hormones or antibiotics. The experience gives you the feeling of wellness and balance that is incorporated into their menu and way of life. It is actually a simple formula, combine hand made food using farm fresh ingredients.

What they have accomplished on this 25 acres is amazing, every corner has been utilized yet feels open and not cramped. There are the little things like their own home made ice cream and there is the mind blowing hay-bail cottages that encircle the edges of the property. These owners have access to the fields, private pools and privileges to the grounds and spa.

Our private tour of the grounds was inspirational. The vibe of the place is tangible. You are at once transported and relaxed growing thirsty for their signature juices. So we headed back to the Bar to order a round and start thinking about our lunch. But first how about two of the best cocktails? I ordered the smoky Mezcal Margarita and Sandra tried the Cilantro Gin and Tonic.

Soon after we were greeted by the chef who prepared an amazing colorful first course of raw, pickled and braised vegetable platter. Even the flowers that lend vivid contrast to the dish are edible. The sauces and flavors were intense and the portion generous. The chef brought us another signature vegetarian plate this round being a couscous hummus platter with the freshest greens. We loved the lunch and plan another return for dinner when they feature local singer and songwriters.

They have recently added several high quality retail shops, gifts, colorful bags, resort fashion, beautiful jewelry store, body shop and coffee cafe.
