Well, Cabo lovers we just finished up the second week of May. This Spring weather is gorgeous. We have been receiving some big swells from the south but the ocean has calmed down. We are flying over the Cabo Marina, Pedregal, and Solmar Beaches today for this week’s Los Cabos Update. Pedregal was the first luxury development in Los Cabos. Just past San Jose and the marvelous Puerto Los Cabos region lies the beginning of the East Cape. This is easily accessed by the new paved road. For many who long for the quiet days of old have flocked to this area for the gorgeous beaches, great surfing and slower pace…….
The east Cape begins at La Laguna and the impressive development called El Encanto de la Laguna where you can purchase ocean front homes and elevated condos. Past there is a stretch of undeveloped beach from that we love to enjoy often with our beach towels, umbrellas and a well stocked cooler for beach picnic. The ocean side road has been blocked near Punta Gordo so if you wish to head further you will have to take the new paved road to Zacaticos.
Here you will find off the grid homes of various sizes and prices. Just past here is the new huge Vidanta project is well underway and will offer many price points for homes, condos and oceanfront villas. Just a few clicks past this project is Shipwrecks surf break and then Nine Palms surf break. There are a few homes along the way toward past here and every once in a while you will stumble across amazing stand alone villas and compounds that seem a world unto themselves. Los Cabos East Cape Real Estate There are many options for this area and we know them all.
Once you reach La Fortuna and Punta Arena you are within the zoned Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park with no fishing allowed. Cabo Pulmo is the largest hard coral reef in the north Pacific and a world unto itself. You should plan a stay there and you will be much impressed with the amazing reef and diverse ocean biology. From here you have the upper half of the East Cape that is also being developed in the area near La Ribera called Costa Palmas. Beyond there you have many choices in price and options in Spa Buena Vista and Los Barriles. These are easily accessed by Highway 1 and have been a go to destination due to their excellent fishing and easy launch for boats. North of here you are back on dirt roads and have seclusion restored in Punta Pescador and north it becomes a dead end unless you have a good off road vehicle. For the rest it is best to drive north on Highway 1 to the small town of San Antonio where the paved road takes you to the secluded Bahia Sueno, La Ventana and El Sargento.
This is also a great choice for wind sports and eco tourism. The island of Ceralvo is just off shore and creates an amazingly predictable north wind that is world class for kite boarding. North of here the road gets much tougher and access is limited but for those adventurous enough will be rewarded by the Rancho Las Cruces. This is the first resort ever built in the great lower baja by Rod Rodriquez and his American actress wife Lucille Bremer. The historic San Jose Del Cabo was an important stop for the Spanish galleons in the early 1600’s due to their abundance of fresh water.
