Quivira Golf Club was recently named one of the top 100 courses in the world by Golf Digest. For good reason, there really isn’t a course quite like this roller coaster golf club. With their all inclusive food and beverages and camera worthy vistas, play can be a bit slow but who cares when you are watching breaching whales as you decide on your club selection.
The real estate options here are the most affordable in Los Cabos private golf course developments with prices starting from $379,000 for a two bedroom ocean view condo to multi million dollar single family homes. The masterplanned community includes hotels, private residence clubs, fractional homes and multiple condo and full ownership communities. A second private course is planned and will also be a Golden Bear design.
Diamante
Another semi private golf community on the Pacific side with a wide range of timeshare, fractional and full ownership offerings. Diamante started with an award winning Dunes course by Davis Love III and has a Tiger Woods course called El Cardonal and recently opened an executive par 3 course also designed by Woods. The Dunes course was named #36 in the world by Golf Magazine top 100 and is a delight for the low handicapper. The Tom Fazio designed course has the whitest bunkers with the darkest green contrasting the desert tan against the blue of the sea. This is a wonderfully designed course with each hole having unique features and sea views, challenging fast greens with lots of undulation and many water features. If you lose another ball in the lake don’t despair as there is a comfort station nearby serving amazing food and Casamigos tequila is the house brand.
Chileno Bay club has a wide variety of real estate to offer starting at $2.6 million for a generous 4 bedroom condo at the Auberge run resort called Chileno Bay Resort and Residences. El Dorado
Coming in at our #1 spot as best private golf development in Los Cabos is El Dorado Golf & Beach Club. This course was purchased by Discovery Land Co and re-designed by Jack Nicklaus in 2004. Ocean front holes were replaced by 42 ocean front lots. The prices they commanded were between $5-$12 million and certainly raised the bar on luxury home costs in Los Cabos. The course has a wide variety of terrain with elevation changes, lake side holes, ocean, desert and mountain views. This private club while exclusive is not an old stodgy style private club. From the classic rock playing at the practice facilities to the margarita machines at the comfort stations there is a casual relaxed atmosphere that blends so well with the vibe of the Baja. Phil Michelson is said to have set the course record while playing barefoot. It’s common to see bikinis and bare feet on the course and even a ride along dog.
After a great round you have all the amenities of the beach club or if you are looking for additional fun there is their Outdoor Pursuits for a wide range of water sports, hiking, biking, rowing or yachting on the Discovery.

One hour north of the San Jose airport is the new Costa Palmas project. This Ft Lauderdale style marina concept was originally called Cabo Riviera but failed after hurricane Odile in 2014. Irongate Development came in and took over and rebranded it as Costa Palmas and are actively building the Four Seasons hotel and residences.
Newly announced addition of the Aman resort and residences makes this a major player in the ultra luxury residence game in the southern Baja.
This is Aman’s first Mexican venture from this SE Asia 6 star hotel group.
Our tour of Costa Palmas began at the entrance to this 1000 acre project. After arriving to their recently completed beach club we met their team. The modern sleek style of the club has a distinctly Four Seasons feel.
The master plan is impressive. They are actively dredging the marina, carving out the golf course and building the hotel. Scheduled to open late this year they have 450 construction crew members making it happen.
The beach club will be the centerpiece of the residences and is complete with lounge, restaurant, bar, multiple pools and hot tubs, members locker rooms, spa and gym. The beach club is located above the sand dunes along the natural lagoon and overlooking the blue waters of the Sea of Cortez. It is also the sales office and design center where they will meticulously customize your baja home.
A long stretch of white sand beach is a great place for your family to play and enjoy the gentle waves and swim-friendly sea.
The residences come as either fully turn key or you can customize a private villa that you furnish yourself.
Starting price points for a marina condo is $1.9 million which come fully furnished and can be placed in their hotel rental program. Boat slips are available right in front of your residence for an additional price.
On the other end of the spectrum are the private oceanfront villas. These are the pinnacle for homeowners with the wherewithal and desire for custom design. Various lot sizes are currently available with the top locations currently priced at $20 million. Expect $1,000 per sq ft building expense.
Turnkey furnished villas are available on the ocean, marina and golf course.
In addition to the beach club amenities members will enjoy a private yacht club, marina village, and a wide range of outdoor pursuits.
The Robert Trent Jones designed private club will offer 250 memberships for $100,000 and annual fees of $25,000. Golf is expected to open at the same time as the Four Seasons Hotel in late December 2018.
After our private tour with Erin we were getting pretty hungry so went back to the beach club and enjoyed an amazing fresh lunch and a couple of tasty margaritas, a fitting end to this amazing preview.

This is the Baja that dreams are made of. Rarely do you encounter a vacation property that has an attention to detail so finely engrained that even their house tequila is custom labeled in a barrel. The property was purchased in 2001 and slowly developed into this unmistakably delightful retreat. With only four suites in this hacienda style home on acreage you wonder how they can offer so many amenities for such a modest price. The grounds are meticulously maintained. Rooms are each unique and what great, comfortable bedding. The towels and robes are lush. The pool area is just steps from the house and will make you forget about the gorgeous beach until you desire a surf session or a long walk down the beach. The double decked palapa has shaded hammocks on the beach and the second story is like its own living room in a tree house with views that seem endless. The home is a two story hacienda with comfortable shared living space on the ground level and the four separate suites on the second level. The stairs are an engineering marvel made of steel and glass tiles. The roof deck enjoys a bar, living area and a fire pit for those cooler desert evenings. Star gazing on the roof is perfect since there are no city lights, especially on evenings with no moon. The villa is so comfortable and well equipped that you won’t want to leave. We were planning a nice dinner in Todos Santos with plenty of exceptional options but decided to cook in and enjoy the place to ourselves. The open kitchen is a gourmet’s delight plus BBQ grill equipped with everything for a large or small group. Villa Santa Cruz is built on over 20 acres with plans to expand starting this June. 8 stilted cabanas are scheduled to be built surrounding the pool in a tasteful way that will continue to offer intimate privacy. This relaxed and casual atmosphere is popular for individuals, as a group retreat and for weddings.Breakfast is complimentary and was an event unto itself with coffee, fresh juice, bagels, cereals, and an amazing eggs Benedict. They rotate the menu so every morning brings a new option. We set up a late check out the next day and spent most of the morning bouncing between the second story palapa and the heated pool. Proprietors Matt and Jessica Canepa live on site in a separate home and are there for anything you need, obviously devoted to making your stay a wonderful experience. We were sad to pack up and actually drive away. Oakley our devoted mascot looked even sadder and had to be literally dragged back to the truck.
