Rancho San Lucas, Gran Sol Mar Resort and Residences

The long rich history of the Bulnes family cultivates with their multi-generation development Rancho San Lucas on the Pacific side of Los Cabos.

The vision of the father is being realized by his family. They have steadfastly followed in the tradition of grand design, meticulous grounds, and generous services creating this place of relaxed solace. What has been learned over a 50-year study in award-winning resorts in Cabo has been applied to this grand project. Just over 5 miles from Cabo to the entrance makes it easy to get to but feels far removed from the bustle of the busy resort town.

Rancho San Lucas is yet another large master-planned community with a mixed-use of properties and amenities. The Grand Solmar at Rancho is the flagship resort and sister property to GS Land’s End Resort. Grand Solmar offers a family-oriented beachfront community resort and a separate Private residence club called the Residences. In addition to the resort there are many full ownership options from the Greg Norman Estates homes, condos and then the mid-priced Villas with commanding views of the whole community from the elevated perches along the golf course. This isn’t just any golf course but the award-winning Greg Norman Links style course with each unique hole enjoying ocean views. The clubhouse, practice facilities, and services are top-notch. I was able to get a nice round in and am happy to resort to a par of the challenging #17 island hole. After my round, it was so nice to hit the pool and hot tubs and savor another amazing meal at one of the fine restaurants.

We booked our week staying at a 3 bedroom penthouse on the Residences side of the resort. This oversized penthouse was simply huge with a great open design with the kitchen and half-moon island bar being the soul of the living area. The massive U-shaped couch was plenty spacious for our group. It can sleep up to 10 so our 4 adults plus Oakley were all very happy and content. We enjoyed the master suite with the open corner sliders, huge comfortable king bed, walk-in closet, oversized shower with tub. All three of the bedrooms had en-suite baths and opened onto private decks with killer views. Being Christmas week we were entertained by whale sightings the whole week.

We enjoyed the adult pool with a nice swim-up pool bar and restaurant with large built-in tables in the heated adult pool. So relaxing and quiet but close enough to the resort side amenities. With the various restaurants, bars, multiple pools, cabanas, and lagoon. It took a few days to discover all the offerings including a poolside spa with thatched cabana treatment huts, fountains, water treatments, and all the spoils of a world-class spa. Don’t worry about the kids of all ages who will absolutely love the water park with giant slides, rope swings, water features, fountains, kayaks, and SUP boards. For relaxing poolside, there are plenty of style loungers, shaded areas, private cabanas, and their signature Balinese Cabanas. Dip in one of the various hot tubs, heated pools or cool off in the lagoon, the choice of temperature is yours.

The staff was obviously well trained and a joy to be around. They made us feel at home especially with their dog-friendly rules. They brought Oakley his own bed and food and water bowls.

We had the opportunity to take the free shuttle to their amazing Land’s End resort but opted to stay put since we had everything we needed right outside our door. We also took them up on their All-Inclusive option for 4 of our days and took advantage of the well-equipped chef’s kitchen as well.

Overall we really enjoyed this week at Rancho San Lucas. The service levels were outstanding and the staff was very attentive to all of our needs. We look forward to bringing you these informative videos on the very finest Los Cabos has to offer.
