One of the most common questions we get is, why did we move to Mexico and Los Cabos in particular? We were living a great life in Lake Tahoe, and both were changing our careers. This granted us the opportunity to think outside the box regarding our next move. Why not change latitudes as well as attitudes, and consider moving away from Tahoe and beyond the borders? We both loved the various areas of Mexico and found those experiences always wonderful. Upon further research, we were fascinated by the Baja, especially the southernmost tip. It was accessible, had incredible desert weather in the tropics, friendly and happy people from all over the world, and, most importantly for our tastes, a low population and high adventure. We flew down on a fact-finding trip for a week. While there, meeting locals, expats, and real estate companies, we decided to give it a try for a year or two. That was 21 years ago, and we couldn’t be happier with that decision. Living in Los Cabos has been an enriching experience.
Is it the beauty of the beaches, the unspoiled mountains, or the low population? Perhaps, but let’s not forget the ease of living with all the things one requires, like great restaurants, organic farms, shopping, health care, international airports, and of course Costco. Add in all the water sports, land adventures, and the annual whale migration, and you have it all. Yes, it’s easy and breezy, and the weather is fantastic.
The pace of life is slower. The sense of community is strong. Learning the culture was easy, satisfying, and humbling. Getting off the “work, work, work” mentality and spending more quality time living a lifestyle with an emphasis on living was, and continues to be, the goal. We love helping others make this same transition. Whether for a few weeks, months, or a full-time residency, it is way easier to live here than you can imagine. Indeed, there is a mañana mentality, and not every project is completed on time. But maybe that’s the point. Besides great year-round weather, ease of access, safety, and natural wonders, we love the way life is at a gentler pace. It’s your life, after all; live it to its fullest.
