Starting with iconic Bud Parr who had the vision to buy 20 miles of shoreline in the corridor before there was even a road, airport, or marina. Bud sold a 2-mile stretch to Don Koll another visionary developer who brought Robert Day into the project.
A fine move indeed considering the connections Mr. Day contributed with his family businesses Superior Oil and Oakmont Corporation. The commitment toward developing a world-class resort started with building not one but two world-class golf courses, the iconic Ocean Course by no other than Jack Nicklaus and later an equally impressive Desert Course by Tom Weiskopf. Two large resort plots were then sold to Fiesta Americana and to Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar. Both of these classic oceanfront properties have been enjoyed by countless families over the years.
Hacienda Del Mar has an enviable footprint with a wide swath of oceanfront with soft white beach, rocky outcroppings, coves, and a gently sloping hillside location.
